“Retro Tech” Episode Explores ION Digital Conversion Products
Cumberland, R.I. (Dec. 17, 2008) - ION (www.ionaudio.com), a leader in personal audio and video technology products, announces that the company’s suite of digital conversion products will be featured in an episode of the History channel’s “Modern Marvels” program. The episode, titled "Retro Tech," will air on Friday, December 19, 2008, at 8:00 p.m. E.S.T. The segment, which examines the evolution of technology, includes product overviews of ION’s VCR 2 PC, LP DOCK and TAPE 2 PC.
VCR 2 PC, a videotape-to-computer player, converts consumer’s videos on VHS tapes and other video sources - such as camcorders - to digital video. It employs a common USB computer connection and easy-to-use software. LP DOCK is a turntable with a built-in Universal Dock for iPod. The turntable enables users with or without computers to transfer music from their vinyl records directly onto their iPod, or optionally to their computer. TAPE 2 PC converts music from cassette tapes to MP3 files on the user’s computer. Once converted to digital format, consumers can enjoy their video and audio using today’s flexible digital devices such as an MP3 player, iPod, PSP or CD player.
On the air for 13 years, “Modern Marvels” is among History's longest running programs. The documentary program informs viewers about the backgrounds and origins of scientific, technological and mechanical topics in the modern world. To date, more than 500 episodes of the program have been broadcast.
“We are honored to be recognized as innovators in the field of digital conversion by such a well-respected program as ‘Modern Marvels,’” said Jack O’Donnell, president and CEO, ION. “We are proud to play a key role in the conversion movement and will continue to bring even more technology to the marketplace.”
