ION ENABLES ROCK BAND® DRUMMERS TO CUSTOMIZE THEIR DRUM SETS
Accessories For Premium Rock Band 2 Drum Set, Expand and Modify Kit

(Jan. 8, 2009) – ION (www.ionaudio.com), a leader in consumer audio and entertainment technology, announces availability of an expanded line of accessories for its popular Drum Rocker drum set, the official Premium Drum Set for the Rock Band 2 video game. The new accessory line includes a professional Alesis drum-sound module, a set of mounting hardware for the module, a Cymbal Expansion Pack, a Drum Expansion Pack, a Kick Drum Pad, a Traditional Kick Pedal, and a drum throne.
The multiple-award-winning Drum Rocker drum set has excited the gaming world, delivering an unparalleled drumming experience for Rock Band 2 and the original Rock Band video game. The new line of Drum Rocker accessories enable drummers and gamers to expand and customize their Drum Rocker to take full advantage of the advanced instrument’s capabilities.
Professional electronic-percussion manufacturer Alesis worked with ION to develop Drum Rocker. This relationship saw the kit developed not only as a game controller, but also as a standalone drum set. Alesis’ professional DM5 drum-sound module is now available from ION as an accessory for Drum Rocker and its addition transforms Drum Rocker into a performance-ready drum set. The DM5 contains 540 stereo drum, cymbal and percussion sounds. Its 12 trigger inputs enable Drum Rocker players to expand their drum sets beyond the capabilities of the Rock Band game. To mount the DM5 module to the Drum Rocker stand, ION has developed a package of hardware, the Alesis DM5 Module Mount, available separately from the module.
Drum Rocker users adding a DM5 module to their kit will likely want to add the Drum rocker Kick Pad as well. Drum Rocker’s new Kick Pad delivers a velocity sensitive kick drum when used with the DM5, and allows the existing Drum Rocker foot pedal to be repurposed as a hi-hat pedal to provide greater expressive capability in professional playing situations. The Kick Pad features a soft rubber playing surface for realistic kick drum feel. The pad is mounted on a vertical all-metal base, ensuring rugged, stay-put performance for more aggressive drumming styles. Players can use any traditional single- or double-kick drum pedal with the new Kick Pad, or use the optional Traditional Kick Pedal, a chain-drive kick drum pedal that features adjustable spring tension and a hard felt beater.
Drum Rocker comes with two color-assignable cymbal pads. ION’s Cymbal Expansion Pack enables drummers to add a third cymbal. The pack comes with everything a player needs to add a cymbal to Drum Rocker: a cymbal pad with color-assignment rings, an adjustable mounting arm, a mounting clamp and a connection cable. While the Rock Band games work with up to three cymbals, using Drum Rocker as a standalone drum set with the Alesis DM5 drum module enables players to expand their cymbal-pad selection further.
Drum Rocker players using the kit with the DM5 module can also add additional drum pads to trigger additional sounds such as toms and other percussion instruments. The Drum Expansion Pack contains an additional drum pad, mounting clamp and arm and a connection cable for mounting anywhere on the kit.
